A Presentation of Paintings
1st - 26th June
Lucienne’s work questions ideas around vision, perception, and a desire to highlight the fractured way in which we receive visual information. It involves a rethinking and questioning of what is taken for granted in terms of seeing. Her paintings examine how the act of looking and one’s own assumptions determine what an object, a thing, or a space is.
Lucienne received an MA in Fine Art from City & Guilds and was the recipient of The Tony Carter Award. Later this year she will be taking part in the Turps Banana Studio Programme. She has work in several collections, including Simmons & Simmons, John Jones, and The Currell Collection.
Lesley’s work is inspired by the Abstract Expressionists and their experimental way of applying paint. Her paintings are led by an intuitive and spontaneous process. She uses a variety of techniques to press, paint, and build up layers, resulting in complex and multifaceted surfaces.
Atmosphere is made within the space of the painting by use of colour and contrasting textures.
Lesley obtained a degree in Fine Art from Central St Martins. She has exhibited in The Discerning Eye at The Mall Galleries, the National Open Art Competition, and The Summer Exhibition at The Royal Academy several times.
